Police lock down busy Edinburgh street after major crash as paramedics race to scene

A MAJOR city centre street has been locked down by emergency services after a car crash.

Police and paramedics were scrambled to Cowgate in Edinburgh after the two-vehicle smash.

Rescue crews have shut down the road amid the ongoing incident.

One man who was driving the car has been arrested over the crash.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 6.55pm to a report of a two vehicle crash on Cowgate, Edinburgh.

“Emergency services are in attendance and the road is currently closed.

“One man, the driver, has been arrested in connection and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
