Leeds vs Everton preview
Leeds’ two-year Premier League absence is finally over as they welcome David Moyes’ Everton to Elland Road for Monday night’s top-flight clash.
It’s the first time in club history that Leeds are starting a league campaign with a Monday fixture – and they’ll be hoping this new experience sparks a change in fortunes against the Toffees.
Leeds have managed just one win in their last 11 Premier League meetings with Everton (D4 L6) and are winless in the last five.
Meanwhile, the Toffees are unbeaten in their last five Premier League trips to Elland Road – their joint-longest active unbeaten away run against any current top-flight side.
But Leeds arrive in form, of sorts, having lost just one of their last 28 Championship league games (W19 D8), winning the last six in a row.
They’ve also bolstered their squad with the arrivals of Anton Stach, Jaka Bijol, Lucas Perri, Sean Longstaff, and Gabriel Gudmundsson – not to mention former Toffee Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who joined on a free transfer.
Leeds stormed to the Championship title with 100 points on the final day of the campaign, boasting the second-best defensive record in the division, conceding just 30 goals all season.
And it looks like that same defensive resilience and organisation will be key again in the top flight. The early signs are positive too – Leeds registered three successive pre-season draws, including 1-1 results against AC Milan and Villarreal, and a goalless stalemate with Manchester United.
As for Everton, they head into the new campaign with the wind in their sails after finally completing their long-awaited move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
They’ve also been active in the transfer market, bringing in Thierno Barry, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and – most notably – Jack Grealish, who joins on a season-long loan in one of the summer’s standout deals.
However, not everything has gone to plan. An injury to key centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite is a major blow, and their pre-season form was equally concerning – the Toffees went winless in all six warm-up games, scoring just four goals in total.

Leeds vs Everton preview betting tips and predictions
Goals?
Nope. That might sound negative, especially considering Leeds’ last eight opening league games have produced 39 goals.
But Leeds – and the other promoted clubs – may struggle for goals in the top flight. Last season’s top scorer, Joel Piroe, remains untested at Premier League level, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin has managed just 17 goals across the last four top-flight campaigns.
They also scored just two goals across pre-season, and none of those matches saw over 2.5 goals.
It’s a similar story for Everton, who were blunt in front of goal last season. While they’ve added attacking reinforcements, it may take time for the likes of Jack Grealish and Thierno Barry to settle. Four goals in seven pre-season games isn’t exactly firing on all cylinders.

Carded
I’m backing Everton defender Jake O’Brien to go into the book at 7/2 on Monday night, using William Hill’s enhanced Player Card market.
The towering Irishman, 24, is expected to fill in at right-back due to Jarrad Branthwaite’s injury – a role where he picked up three of his four Premier League bookings last season.
And it could be a tough shift under the lights at Elland Road, with the pace and directness of Daniel James and Wilfried Gnonto sure to keep him busy.
