The major bridge has been shut following a police incident, with images from the scene showing a cordon has been set up.

Two ambulances were seen parked in the middle of the bridge with police officers spotted conducting enquires.

The bridge has closed in both directions between the A3211 Victoria Embankment and Lambeth Palace Road.

However, no injuries have been reported, confirmed the Met Police.

Bus routes which typically run through the area have been diverted this morning, with traffic scanners suggesting the road has been shut for at least three hours.

At least 12 bus routes have been affected.

A Met Police spokeswoman told The Sun it was a “mental-health related incident”.

The London Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
