I’m taking a chance on a ‘terrific’ 20-1 outsider who simply loves York on day two of the Ebor meeting

NOT many horses love York like LA TRINIDAD, and I’m hoping the admirable handicapper can at least hit the frame once again on ITV on Thursday afternoon.

La Trinidad goes for Roger Fell and Rowan Scott in the hugely competitive Clipper, a Heritage Handicap over a mile.

GettyThe Yorkshire Oaks is the big race on day two of York’s Ebor Festival – and Minnie Hauk will have to get her tactics right if she is to reward odds-on backers[/caption]

So far La Trinidad has raced 47 times in his career, and his form figures at York over the last five years read: 7336-611964-80038-597-5700-35.

The son of Bated Breath is back on a mark now of 96 which gives him a chance of a big effort.

He ran third here in May off 2lb higher behind Old Cock. He’s just a terrific stick and I’m happy to support him for a place.

Of course the big race on day two of the Juddmonte International fixture is the Group 1 Pertemps Network Yorkshire Oaks for fillies and mares over 1m4f.

It probably will be simple for MINNIE HAUK who will be a short price but tactically this is interesting.

I’d imagine Garden of Eden will make the running from Qilin Queen with Minnie Hauk sitting in third and Estrange waiting to pounce.

The Epsom and Irish Oaks heroine ultimately will probably be too good in the conditions, with Estrange likely to need a softer surface to show her best.

Ryan Moore rides for Aidan O’Brien.

In recent times the likes of Snowfall, Enable, Snow Fairy and Alexandrova banged in two Oaks before the Yorkshire equivalent.

They were priced at 8-15, 1-4, 5-2 and 4-9 respectively.

ITV coverage gets underway today with the Group 2 Lowther Stakes for juvenile fillies over 6f.

AMERICA QUEEN was most impressive on debut at Haydock and might be another useful one for Group 1 hero Richard Hughes.

A 180,000 euro breeze-up buy in May, the grey was slowly away on debut but came clear inside the final furlong.

That was a Class 3 and this is a Group 2 so it will be a very different test, but Moore is booked and she looks a star in the making.

There’s a sales race in the Harry’s Half a Million by Goffs for youngsters over 6f.

I liked Italica in this, but now he is out it’s really in the hands of TADEJ.

With a rating of 106, the Archie Watson runner is already clear in the rankings and he comes to this in banging form having won a Group 3 in Deauville last time.

A run on fast ground at Royal Ascot suggests conditions should be no issue even though that success can on good and she ran on soft the time before. Big chance for Hollie Doyle.

My hope stepped up to 7f last time and was third in Listed company at Ascot.

Prior to that he was a fine winner over 6f at Salisbury.

He toughed it out that day under a penalty and he progressed again at the Berkshire track. An each-way selection under James Doyle.

Finally the Listed Galtres Stakes over 1m4f.

ALICE MONET interests me here for the legend Dermot Weld and Chris Hayes.

The daughter of Teofilo has done little wrong, scoring at both Fairyhouse and Leopardstown on her last two starts.

Her victory last time came off a mark of 87 in handicap company, so she has a lot more to do here stepped up in trip.

But she might be miles better than we have seen so far and Weld is no fool!

Good luck!
