A MAN has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being attacked in Dublin city centre overnight.
The horror assault took place in the Temple Bar square area of Dublin 2 shortly after midnight in the early hours of this morning.
Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene at around 12:30am.
The victim, understood to be an English tourist aged in his 40s, remains in a critical condition in Beaumont Hospital.
Gardai sealed off the scene of the incident and a forensic examination of the area was conducted.
Anyone who may have any information in connection with the attack probe has been urged to contact gardai in Pearse Street station.
Officers are hoping that anyone with video footage will come forward.
No arrests have been made at this time.
In a statement this morning, a garda spokesperson said: “Gardai in Pearse Street are appealing for witnesses in relation to a serious assault that occurred in the Temple Bar Square area of Dublin 2 in the early hours of this morning, Thursday 21st August 2025.
“Gardai and emergency services responded to the incident at approximately 12.30am.
“A man, aged in his 40s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
“The scene was preserved and a technical examination has been completed.”
The statement continued: “Gardai are appealing to anyone with information in relation to this incident or who may have video footage to contact Pearse Street Garda Station on (01) 6669000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
