Wiltshire Police have arrested a 61-year-old man from Trowbridge and a 46-year-old man from Hilperton on suspicion of murder.

A cordon remains in place, with officers maintaining a presence in the area to reassure the public.

The force has confirmed that they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.

A spokesperson from the police said: “We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed what took place.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who may have doorbell or dash cam footage taken yesterday evening.

“You can also leave information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”

The force added that it “would like to thank the local community for their patience while enquiries continue”.

The news comes after new data from the Home Office revealed which towns and cities in the UK are amongst the most dangerous.

Westminster, in London, topped the list with 423 crimes per 1000 residents taking place each year.

Camden, also in London, came second with 195 crimes per 1000 residents as tourists are often targeted by pickpocketers.

Middlesborough was the area with the most crime outside of London.

The town recorded 158.3 crimes per 1,000 people, which equates to almost one in 6 people being victim to a crime.

A staggering 23,000 crimes were recorded in the North East town last year, which is a 5 per cent reduction from last year.
