The Norwegian sensation has had his surname on his back throughout his career at Real Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City.
But when he takes to the pitch for Norway, he will have ‘Braut Haaland’ on his shirt to acknowledge his full family name, in typical Norwegian tradition.
Norway sit top of their group, with the maximum 12 points from their first four games and are in a strong position to secure their place at the 2026 World Cup.
They failed to make it to the 2022 World Cup.
Norway next play in a friendly against Finland followed by their World Cup qualifier against Moldova on September 9.
Head coach of the national team, Stale Solbakken, admitted that he was not aware of the name change.
He said: “That’s his name [Braut], it’s no longer that difficult. I knew nothing of it until now.”
Premier League’s joint leading goalscorer’s Instagram handle reads ‘Erling Braut Haaland’ which is followed by over 38 million people.

Haaland to add his middle name to Norwegian shirt ahead of September friendlies
And it’s not the only change the blond-haired ace has shown off recently.
Last week Haaland rocked up for Manchester City training in a brand new Ferrari worth £350,000.
The City hitman cruised into the Etihad Campus in a shining silvery-blue Ferrari 12Cilindri.
The car has a base price of £350,000 – but definitely packs a punch.
The V12 engine boasts 830hp of power and a face-melting top speed of 211mph.
