Last season’s top two meet in the third game of the season and even this early on, it’s a huge game.

Liverpool and Arsenal come into the contest with two wins from two in the Premier League, though both have shown spells where they maybe haven’t quite got going yet.

Liverpool looked good on the opening day before blowing a 2-0 lead and later rallying to beat Bournemouth.

They did the same on Monday night too when 2-0 up against ten-man Newcastle before looking fortunate to hold on for a point and then hitting Toon with a last-minute sucker punch to claim the points.

Florian Wirtz has struggled to get going so far but Hugo Ekitike has netted in all three Reds competitive games, despite not being in the games all that much.

Arsenal started with what looked a very good 1-0 at a new-look Manchester United on the opening day, though it’s since transpired that United are just as bad as they were last season.

It took them time to get going against Leeds last week too but once going they fully motored to a thumping 5-0 win, with Viktor Gyokeres’ double able to settle him down.

Injuries to Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard clouded the victory, with the former out with a hamstring injury and Odegaard in a race against time himself.

Both games last season ended in 2-2 draws and given how they’ve shaped up this term, you wouldn’t bank against that continuing.

Ibrahima Konate got away with a couple of defensive errors on Monday night and was fortunate not to collect a second yellow card for a push on Harvey Barnes – which ironically saw Bruno Guimaraes carded.

Liverpool have conceded six goals in three competitive games to start the season and won’t get away with that against this Arsenal side, irrespective of injuries.

Was booked on Monday night and Arsenal will be targeting him with the pace and power of Viktor Gyokeres.

You can’t ignore the fact that last season’s two games between the teams both finished 2-2.
