JAMES Bulger’s killer Jon Venables could be free within months after being granted a new parole bid.
Evil Venables was initially released in 2001 but twice recalled to prison for child abuse images offences.

He has now been given a chance to try for freedom again when he goes before a panel, with a hearing likely next month.
But murdered toddler James’s parents, Denise Fergus and her ex-husband Ralph Bulger, are “angry and anxious” and writing witness statements on why Venables, 43, should stay in jail.
He was refused parole in December 2023 when a panel ruled he posed a risk and had not been open and honest with probation bosses.
But a source said: “It is outrageous he is getting another shot at freedom — how many chances does he need?
“If ever there was a case where they should throw away the key, surely this is it.
“The family have been assured he will be dealt with as a ‘high-risk’ case and it will take a lot to see him freed. But it is still a huge concern that he is allowed to re-apply so quickly.
“Denise and Ralph are angry and anxious.”
Venables and Robert Thompson were ten when they abducted, tortured and killed two-year-old James in Merseyside in 1993.
The Parole Board said: “We can confirm the parole review of Jon Venables has been referred to the Parole Board by the Secretary of State for Justice and is following standard processes.”
