RISHI Sunak’s wife is hosting a Christmas bash to woo fed-up Tory WAGs.

Akshata Murty has invited MPs’ wives, husbands and partners to the Prime Minister’s grace and favour mansion.

However, MPs have been banned from the Chequers reception early next month.

“It’s got to be a charm offensive,” one Westminster WAG said.

“We’re all quite beat up after a series of brutal by-elections. And some of us are braced for our partners to lose their jobs next year.”

Mr Sunak suffered two crushing by-election blows last month as Labour pulled off historic swings to win Tamworth and Mid-Bedfordshire.

Mrs Murty’s invite, sent out on Halloween, said: “Akshata is very much looking forward to hosting this reception at Chequers and thanking your partner or nominee for supporting you and our team personally.”

The businesswoman stole the show at Tory Party conference last month when she delivered a surprise speech introducing Mr Sunak as her “best friend”.
