THE brother of an expectant father who died hours before the birth of his twins has spoken of his “pure shock”.

Andrew Muncie, 36, was rushed to intensive care after suffering from an asthma attack on his way home from work.

His fiancée gave birth to twins boys in the same hospital just one day after the unthinkable tragedy.

Corey Muncie has since called his brother “a proper staple in the family” and spoke of the shock when he heard the news.

He told LeicestershireLive: “He was everything you would want in an older brother and more.

“I was at home when my mum rang me [to tell me what had happened] and it was pure shock – it stunned me completely.

“I hugged my partner and then it was just panic and I started to rush to get to the hospital.”

Andrew was driving home from his office job when he suffered a stress-induced asthma attack.

This sparked cardiac arrest, and due to the remote location of his commute, his brain was starved of oxygen for “20 to 30 minutes”.

He was rushed to the Adult Intensive Care Unit at Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham on August 7.

Tragically, Andrew died “suddenly” four days later on August 11.

Andrew and his fiancée also share a three-year-old daughter, who has been described as his “absolute world”.

Arran Ashmole, 34, Andrew and Corey’s cousin, set up a GoFundMe page after he said he felt “compelled” to help and support Andrew’s family.

“We held his hand one last time as he passed away on Monday 11th August 2025, just one day before his twin boys arrived safely into this world,” Arran wrote on the GoFundMe page.

“They were born in the same hospital that he passed away surrounded by his loving family.

“One of Andrew’s last wishes in his will was to be an organ donor. He was selfless, kind and giving and it comes as no surprise that he continued this beyond his passing.

“Amazingly he has already saved the lives of 5 other people through his selfless nature and will continue to help more.

“His legacy lives on not only through his children but in the additional lives he has saved.”

At the time of writing, the GoFundMe has raised £17,221.
