Paramedics were alerted to the incident at around 4:15am but, despite their best efforts, were unable to save the man who died at the scene.
A 34-year-old British man who had been staying with the victim, was arrested at the property in Erzsebetvaros in Budapest’s District VII.
Residents reported that the suspect was dragging the victim’s body down the corridor when officers arrived – leaving a pool of blood outside the apartment door.
Authorities said the two men had rented the apartment on a visit to Budapest when an argument broke out.
A homicide investigation has since been launched as cops combed through rubbish looking for the knife used in the stabbing.
The suspect has since confessed to the crime and prosecutors are seeking his formal arrest.
Budapest has increasingly become a hotbed for Brit tourists searching for cheap booze and a wild nightlife.
It comes as a 29-year-old woman was found knifed to death at home with a man “known to her” arrested on suspicion of murder.
Cops and emergency services scrambled to the scene in Greenwich, South London, on Wednesday after reports of a stabbing at a residential address.
Emergency crews, including London‘s Air Ambulance and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service battled desperately to save her life.
But the 29-year-old woman sadly died at the scene at Trafalgar Road.
A 33-year-old man, who police believe the woman knew, was arrested on suspicion of murder at the scene.
The FCDO has been approached for comment.
