The couple had spent August 17 toasting the marriage milestone at the exclusive 300-acre Rudding Park resort and spa in Harrogate, North Yorks.

Nine hours before Mrs Garside was discovered by a passer-by in the centre of the town, she had written on Facebook: “Lovely day in Harrogate celebrating our first wedding anniversary with my love.”

At an inquest opening hearing, senior coroner John Heath confirmed the provisional cause of death as hanging.

He told North Yorkshire Coroner’s Court in Northallerton: “Ms Garside, on August 18, was found hanging in Montpellier Parade, Harrogate.

“A member of public found her and her death was confirmed.”

How to get help

EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide

It doesn’t discriminate, touching the lives of people in every corner of society – from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.

It’s the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, more deadly than cancer and car crashes.

And men are three times more likely to take their own life than women.

Yet it’s rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now.

He added: “The provisional cause of death was confirmed as 1a) hanging.”

The newlywed couple, from Blackburn, Lancs, had visited Harrogate to celebrate their wedding at the Crow Wood Hotel and Spa resort in Burnley, Lancashire, a year earlier.

Mr Garside also posted on Facebook on August 17, sharing wedding pictures and declaring: “1 year since you became my wife!! I love you more and more everyday, happy anniversary.”

Mrs Garside’s body was discovered in gardens in the centre of the spa town shortly after 6.15am the following morning.

Devastated Mr Garside then shared the tragic news of his wife’s sudden death.

Posting a photo of the loved-up couple taken the previous day, he wrote: “My absolute world, my best friend and my beautiful darling wife.

“I will love you forever and you will never leave my heart xxx.”

‘NEW ADVENTURE’

Mrs Garside, a dressage rider who won at the prestigious Horse of the Year Show, was planning to relocate to Australia with Mr Garside in October.

The couple had advertised their new-build detached home on the outskirts of Blackburn for rent and had secured visas ahead of a planned move with their three dachshund dogs.

Mrs Garside had told of her excitement on social media, posting a picture on August 1 of the couple in Melbourne, captioned: “We’ve been keeping a secret. This is our new future home.”

The same day, Mr Garside posted on Instagram: “It’s been a long 6 month process but we are officially Australia bound!

“Visas approved. House secured.

“A whole new chapter and adventure begins.”

Mrs Garside’s funeral took place last week. She was laid to rest following a horse-drawn carriage procession from her home to a nearby church in the village of Feniscowles.

A memorial webpage asked friends to donate to the mental health charity Mind and the Dog’s Trust, described as “causes close to her heart”.

The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
