THE case of a mystery wedding crasher has finally been solved four years later.

Michelle and John Wylie were stunned when they spotted a “random stranger” in photographs of their big day at the Carlton Hotel, in Prestwick, Ayrshire.

No-one recognised the unknown guest, who stood right behind the bride and groom during the ceremony in November 2021.

Despite posting appeals on social media, the stumped newly-weds came up empty handed.

A whopping four years later, the baffling puzzle has now been solved.

‘Wedding crasher’ Andrew Helliman was unwittingly caught in the group shots after being told the wrong address – for different nuptials the same day.

Andrew only knew the bride and his partner, who was part of the wedding party, so mistakenly thought he was at the correct venue.

He watched in horror as Michelle walked down the aisle, but in his panic, stayed in his seat as not to draw attention.

Michelle and Dazza have since met up and “couldn’t stop laughing” after finding each other.

Dazza joked: “I always wondered if this would ever make its way back to me.

“Four years ago my partner was acting as bridesman for his friend Michaela’s wedding and I’d been invited as his plus one.

“For some reason he told me it was at the Carlton hotel in Prestwick at 2pm when it was actually being held at the Great Western hotel in Ayr.

“He had already left in the morning to help with whatever it is bridesmen do and left me to make my own way to the wedding.”

He added: “I remember thinking to myself ‘cool, this is obviously the right place’.

“I parked my car and rushed inside. I make my way into the hall and saw the groom standing and waiting nervously.

“I had never met Michaela’s husband before so I thought ‘alright, this must be Ben’.

He said the fact he didn’t recognise anyone “didn’t raise alarm bells” because he assumed his partner would be with the bride in another room.

“Then the music started. Everyone stands up and turns around to watch the bride walk down the isle and ‘OMG that’s not Michaela!’”, Dazza continued.

“I was at the wrong wedding! You can’t exactly stand up and walk out of a wedding mid ceremony so I just had to commit to this act and spent the next 20 minutes awkwardly sitting there trying to be as inconspicuous.”

After discretely slipping out of the wedding, he made his way to the correct venue.

Michelle, 38, explained: “As soon as I got the sample of the wedding pictures I noticed it straight away. We all said do you know who that is?

“We were asking around the family and friends and no-one had any idea.

“No-one remembered him being there on the day and we now know he slipped away straight after the ceremony.

“It has been so long but I thought surely someone has to know who it is and we always wanted to find out the story why he was there.

“It is unbelievable. I just could not stop laughing when I heard the story. It is so funny and the way Adam tells the story is brilliant.

Michelle said they plan on keeping in touch and the debacle just added “more special memories”.

This comes after a mortified woman travelled 3,000 miles for her friend’s wedding in Scotland – only to realise that she was at the wrong one.

Arti Mala made the 12-hour journey from her home in Washington, D.C. in the US to Glasgow to watch pal Gaurav tie the knot.

But after arriving at Pollok House she hilariously discovered she was at the ceremony of two complete strangers called Caitlin and Stephen.

A video shows Arti’s gaffe in its entirety, and begins with her looking mortified as she stares at the camera.

Elsewhere, a bride and groom called cops to their wedding after finding a stranger eating their cake and downing their booze.

The woman became “belligerent” when she was challenged and tried to claim she was a guest’s plus-one, but was arrested and taken into custody.
