Questions are now reportedly being asked as to whether Robinson, 22, had someone help him or who knew about the killing but remained silent.

Detectives interviewed a family on Thursday afternoon who lived in the neighbourhood next to the university campus who handed over the footage.

We can reveal it shows a man walking past the house – which backs onto a wood – talking into a mobile phone about the shooting just minutes after it happened.

A police probe is now understood to be underway to look into if the man is Robinson.

Officials had said in an earlier press conference that they believe the shooter acted alone but that all lines of enquiry are ongoing.

The alleged assassin was handed over to police on Thursday night after confessing to the shooting of the conservative activist in Utah.

Robinson was recognised by his dad from photos that had been released by the FBI the day before.

Dad Matt called cops and confronted his son who admitted to the attack but allegedly said: “I would rather kill myself than turn myself in.”

He then convinced him to speak to a youth minister, who also serves as a task force officer with the US Marshals Service, who later called the FBI.

It comes after detectives were desperately searching for Mr Kirk’s killer after he was shot on Wednesday while addressing students at Utah Valley University campus.

The 31-year-old, an ally of Donald Trump and co-founder of the country’s largest conservative youth organisation Turning Point USA, was struck by a single bullet from a sniper.

The news that the suspect had been caught was announced by President Donald Trump on a morning television show on Friday.

He said: “I think with a high degree of certainty, we have him.
“In custody.

“Essentially, someone that was very close to him turned him in.”

The FBI – who gave a press conference shortly after Trump’s bombshell revelation – told the public: “We got him.”

FBI director Kash Patel gave a personal message at the end saying: “To my friend Charlie Kirk. Rest now brother. We have the watch and I’ll see you in Valhalla.”

Cops said Robinson was detained at 10pm local time on Thursday and is being held at Utah County Jail after being arrested near his home in the southwest part of the state.

Robinson – who is from Washington, Utah – made the 240 mile journey on Wednesday morning to Utah Valley University in a grey Dodge Challenger arriving at approximately 8.29am local time.

Around four hours later Mr Kirk was shot dead at 12.10pm local time.

Robinson then dumped the rifle in a nearby neighbourhood and drove off in his car.

The bolt action rifle used to kill Mr Kirk was then found dumped behind some trees at a property five doors down.

A source said that a car was parked nearby and left oil spills on the road as it sped away.

Officials said that Robinson, who was briefly a Utah University Valley student in 2021, had become increasingly political in recent years.

He had said that married dad-of-two Mr Kirk was “full of hate and spreading hate”.

At a family dinner days before Mr Kirk’s speech Robinson went on about how he “didn’t like [Kirk] and the viewpoints he had”.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox explained a family pal at the dinner had recalled the exchange to police in an attempt to understand Robinson’s motive.

It was also disclosed that three unfired casings found in the chamber of the murder weapon included slogans such as “Hey fascist! Catch!” engraved on the side along with references to online culture and gaming.

7:15 am – Officials hold a press conference where they announce they have “good video” of the suspect and they recovered the “high-action bolt rifle” in the nearby woods.

An up arrow, right arrow, and three down arrow symbols were found inscribed which may be a nod to a sequence of moves on a controller that releases a bomb in a video game.

Another featured the word “Bella ciao” which is an apparent reference to an Italian song adopted by the anti-fascist resistance during World War II.

A third read: “If you read this, you are gay LMAO [laugh my a– off]”.
Gov Cox said investigators interviewed Robinson’s roommate who showed them texts between him and an account with the name “Tyler” on the messaging app Discord.

The messages from “Tyler” talked about needing to retrieve a rifle from a drop point and gave details about where it would be found, wrapped in a towel, in a wooded area close to campus.

Other messages from Robinson – who has been pictured with a gun and dressed up as Trump for Halloween- said that he had changed his outfit in the wake of the shooting.

Photos of him shared by his mother Amber on social media seem to show a normal, happy family.

Robinson – who lived in a well kept six-bedroom home – is pictured on luxury family holidays to the Caribbean alongside gushing posts by his mum of how well he was doing at school.

According to an affidavit filed in court Robinson was arrested on suspicion of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily harm, and obstruction of justice.

A judge ordered that he be held without bail.

Court records indicate that he had not been convicted of any crimes in the past.

Mr Kirk served as a personal aide to Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr during the general election campaign.

FBI Director Kash Patel said authorities received more than 11,000 leads that helped bring about the arrest of Robinson.
