LEFTIE councils run by the Lib Dems and the Greens house the fewest asylum seekers – despite backing softer borders, new stats reveal.

Mr Anderson, MP for Ashfield, trawled through Home Office data from June 2025 which showed how many asylum seekers every council in England is housing.
His research showed that Lib Dem-run councils housed 122 refugees on average, while Green Party authorities housed 171 on average.
In stark contrast, Labour councils take 511 refugees and Tory-run authorities take 216.
The tough-talking former coal miner fumed: “The data is conclusive. Liberal Democrat and Green areas accommodate fewer asylum seekers.
“This is despite both parties proudly pledging their support for asylum seekers and promising to introduce easier legal routes to asylum in Britain in last year’s General Election.
“If these two bleeding heart, tolerant parties are so in favour of asylum seekers, why don’t they offer to take more of them?
“They campaigned for it, they should live with it.”
Angry protests over migrant hotels have broken out across the country. They erupted after a migrant hotel resident in Epping was charged with sexual assault.
The Home Office decides where most asylum seekers are housed – with many given rooms in hotels while others might get houses or flats.
But councils can also volunteer to take in more asylum seekers, and are given extra money by the government if they do.
The Green Party says it “wants to see a world without borders” and backs a series of radical policies to make it easier for migrants to come to Britain.
This includes dismantling the Home Office and making it far easier for migrants to move to the UK and bring their families here.
The Lib Dems have repeatedly refused to back new laws brought forward by Labour and the Tories to toughen up border controls.

A Lib Dem spokesman said: “We abstained on the Border Security Bill because it did not do enough to stop the small boats, bring the trafficking gangs to justice and end the use of asylum hotels altogether.
“The Home Office decides which hotels are used to house asylum seekers, not local councils.”
A Green Party spokesman said: “Overwhelmingly, the number of refugees and asylum seekers housed by any local government sits in the hands of the Home Office and central government through the ‘full dispersal model’.
“Green councils do, and always will, offer safe and welcoming accommodation to the best of our capacity and ability.
“No one should be trying to turn housing vulnerable people into a political football at a time when we need to be working to bring our communities together.”
