Trump will be making his second state visit, which is a formal trip to the UK by a head of state.
Traditionally, US presidents serving a second term are not offered a state visit and are instead invited for tea or lunch with the monarch, Barack Obama and George W Bush being recent examples.
However, in February, Sir Keir Starmer passed on to Trump an invitation for a state visit on behalf of the King.
The prime minister described the invitation as being “truly historic” and “unprecedented”.
When is Donald Trump’s UK visit?
Donald and his wife Melania Trump will arrive in the UK on the evening of Tuesday, September 16 and stay until Thursday, September 18.
This comes just under six years after the president’s first state visit in December 2019, when he was hosted by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The trip arrives two months after the 79-year-old spent four days in Scotland, where he met politicians and visited his golf courses.

Donald and Melania Trump will be greeted by the Prince and Princess of Wales after travelling to Windsor Castle on the Wednesday morning.
They will then be formally welcomed by the King and Queen, and a royal salute will be fired for Donald’s arrival in Windsor and at the Tower of London.
The now 47th president of the United States will visit St George’s Chapel in Windsor to lay a wreath on the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II.
Before being treated to a flypast by UK and US F-35 military jets and the Red Arrows at Windsor Castle.
In the evening, a traditional state banquet will be held at the castle, where speeches will be delivered by both the King and president.
On Thursday, Trump will meet the prime minister at Chequers, where he will view the Sir Winston Churchill archives before holding a meeting and a news conference.
The prime minister and the Lord Chamberlain, on behalf of the King, are then expected to bid farewell to the Trumps as the state visit comes to an end.
