A MAN has been arrested over an alleged “racially motivated” rape of a Sikh woman.
The man in his 30s was detained on Sunday evening as part of the investigation and remains in custody, police say.

Officers were called on Tuesday after a Sikh woman in her 20s reported being attacked by two white men in Oldbury, West Midlands.
The alleged victim says it happened in the Tame Road area on Tuesday morning at some point between 8am to 8.30am.
She said a racist remark was made to her during the horrific attack.
The woman is continuing to receive support as the investigations continue, say West Midlands Police.
Ch Supt Kim Madill, of Sandwell Police, said: “This is a significant development in the investigation and we want to thank the community for their continuing support.
“The investigation remains on-going and we would urge people not to speculate as we work to identify and trace all those who may have been involved.”
The vile attack caused outrage and fear among the British Sikh community after it was alleged that the attackers directed racist abuse at the victim during the assault.
The Sikh Federation has stepped in to help the woman in the wake of the horror as they claim she was told during the attack: “You don’t belong in this country, get out.”
The organisation held an emergency meeting at Guru Nanak Gurdwara temple in Smethwick, Birmingham.
Faith leaders and members of the community attended the meeting where they voiced shock and fear at the attack which they allege happened in “broad daylight on a busy road.”
There was wide spread horror at the sexual assault and concerns around safety were raised by many attendees at the meeting.
