Police said the victim, Maritza Arias-Galva, had signalled to merge into the traffic with her indicators on when Heinz’s vehicle cut her off.
At the red light where both their vehicles were stopped, Heinz allegedly yelled at her, threatened to kill her, and fired a single shot.
The woman quickly called the police and reported she had been shot in the face near the Stockton University campus grounds.
She was then rushed to a local hospital, where she told police that a man in a white Hyundai had shot her in the face at a red light.
She said the driver called her a “b****” and a “motherf*****” and threatened to kill her.
Heinz fled the shooting scene, but authorities were able to use the victim’s details about his car to track him down.
He was cuffed at a residence near the campus and charged with attempted homicide.
He is being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility and is expected to appear in court for a detention hearing this week, the New York Post reports.
