WAYNE ROONEY admitted “it’s hard to see how it continues” after seeing Manchester United get drubbed 3-0 by City over the weekend.
The former United captain, 39, watched the match alongside several football legends while in South Korea for an exhibition game.

Boss Ruben Amorim has come under the spotlight since his side’s Etihad hammering, with the Portuguese having earned just eight wins in 31 Premier League matches at the Red Devils helm.
Discussing the match, a deflated-looking Rooney said on his BBC podcast: “It was me, Rio (Ferdinand), (Nemanja) Vidic, Michael Carrick and then Maicon, Robert Pires, Gilberto Silva, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Ashley Cole – we’re all watching it and the question we all struggled with was to give how we see Man United playing.
“If we actually sit down and watch Man United for a six-game period, what are the patterns?
“What might improve the team moving forward? Everyone struggled. We’ve all played the game at the highest level, all the players I’ve just mentioned.
“I was speaking with Rio yesterday on this, we want to support the team, we want to support the manager as best we can, but we also have to be honest as well because the fans are not fools and we have to give our honest opinion on what we’re seeing.
“That does put us in uncomfortable positions at times. Rio was out in Chicago with the team for pre-season. Obviously I go into the training ground quite a lot with my children.
“It does put us in an uncomfortable position but we have to be honest with what we’re seeing. Frankly it’s just not good enough.”
City cruised to victory courtesy of Phil Foden‘s first half header and a double by Erling Haaland.

United had 55 per cent possession and 12 shots during the contest, but failed to beat their hosts’ debutant goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Rooney was not complimentary of Pep Guardiola‘s side, claiming they “weren’t great at all” – and that yesterday’s match was “one of the worst Manchester derbies I’ve seen for a long time”.
On Amorim’s lack of progress, the ex-United skipper didn’t hold back.
He said: “What’s important when you’re trying to implement a new style is to win games as well while you’re doing that. Unfortunately for Man United, and for the manager, it’s been not too far off a year now and I think it’s less than one point a game.
“Which in quite a lot of Premier League seasons is relegation form, which over nearly a year period is hard, it’s very difficult. It’s tough to watch, and to see.”
During the podcast discussion, Rooney went on to pinpoint the “powerful” factor that could prove to be most damning for the under-fire United boss.
Rooney went on: “There was an image, towards the end of the game, where I was seeing the Man United fans leaving.
“I’ve never seen that. Well, in my time, I’ve never seen Man United fans leaving.
“And you could hear the fans singing Amorim’s name, but I think that is so powerful that the Man United fans were leaving the game because they knew the game was over and I think they were very disappointed in what they’ve seen.
“It’s hard to see how it continues.”
Sunday’s defeat left United languishing 14th in the early Premier League table with just four points.

MAIN CONCERN
Following the match, Rooney’s fellow former England captain Gary Lineker revealed his concern over Kobbie Mainoo.
The midfielder, 20, again started yesterday’s game on the bench, eventually coming on for Noussair Mazraoui on 62 minutes with his side already trailing 2-0.
Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Lineker said: “It really worries me the way that Kobbie Mainoo has almost been dismissed.
“He’s such an incredible young talent, a local boy doing really well. I thought when he came on he did quite well. I don’t get it.
“I don’t know whether there’s something we don’t know about but it’s slightly baffling to me.”

‘I AM NOT GOING TO CHANGE’
Amorim has rigidly stuck to his trademark 5-2-3 system since moving to Old Trafford – despite awful results.
After the game he again vowed not to deviate from his principles, reiterating: “I am not going to change. When I want to change my philosophy, I will change. If not, you have to change the man.
“We talk about this every game that we lose. I believe in my way and I am going to play my way until I want to change.
“I see that we are doing better but the results don’t show that. I remember last year I played with my former club against City – we won 4-1.
“It was not near the same amount of opportunities – the way we controlled that game compared to today.
“In certain moments we were not better than City – I understand that. It is hard and the record says everything. I understand.”
