GETTYUFC supremo Dana White has revealed he wants McGregor to top the bill of the historic card[/caption]
McGregor, 36, was scheduled to make his cage comeback against Michael Chandler last year but withdrew from the bout wth a broken left pinky toe.
Fighting was seemingly at the back of the Irishman‘s mind for several months, but he’s slowly but surely started ramping up his training in recent weeks.
His upping of the ante came after the UFC announced plans to host a blockbuster card at the White House next June.
White was initially coy on the prospect of the Dubliner topping the bill, but has now made it crystal clear he wants the Return of the Mac to take place at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
When asked who he wants to headline the card, White told the WADE Concept: “Conor McGregor.”
White further said of the former two-division champion: “He’s always been that guy.
“I’ve been in the room. I’ve been on the phone.
“Lots of people like to talk tough publicly, but behind the scenes, it’s a whole other ballgame.

“When the sh*t hits the fan, who’s really willing to go out, and Conor McGregor has always been that guy.”
McGregor 37, is champing at the bit to make his cage return, telling TMZ: “I’m ecstatic!”
“The Mac is back and what better event than to grace the White House lawn for a straightener.
“What I do best. I’m very, very excited. Very eager. Very motivated. Bring it on, baby.”
If McGregor fights again, his next fight will be his first since he was found civilly liable for having assaulted Nikita Hand at a Dublin hotel in December 2018.
McGregor appealed the civil verdict returned at Dublin’s High Court but lost his bid to overturn it in July.
