Concerns were raised for the missing woman’s welfare and, on February 13, police found bloodstains at her home in Christchurch.
An investigation was launched and Karl Hutchings, 48, of Christchurch was arrested later the same day.
The bloodstains discovered at Julie’s home were later forensically linked to her.
Hutchings initially denied murdering Julie but changed his plea to guilty on Monday this week.
Despite searches and public appeals, Ms Buckley’s body was still not found until detectives received a tip off from Hutching’s own defence team.
Hutching’s defence team passed information to detectives who have today announced that they discovered human remains in a field.
The information passed on to them by Hutching’s solicitors led detectives to a possible burial site.
Following searches of the area, investigators sadly found human remains off Blue Lane in Wimblington.
After the horrific discovery officers issued a statement reading: “Detectives investigating the murder of Julie Buckley received information from Mr Hutchings’ defence team about a potential burial site in the area and following searches found remains.”
The remains are yet to be formally identified by cops but the force said a post mortem examination would take place next week.
Julie’s family have been informed of the grim find.
Cambridgeshire Police believe Hutchings murdered Ms Buckley on 30 January.
Officers investigating the murder think he then used her bank cards and sold her possessions for cash.
Hutchings is due to be sentenced on 24 October.
The force said 49-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman remain under investigation.
Both are from Christchurch and were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Detective Chief Inspector Richard Stott said: “Julie’s family have been made aware of this significant update and are being supported by specially trained officers.”
