Arsenal vs Man City preview
Arsenal welcome Manchester City to the Emirates on Sunday in what promises to be an intriguing Premier League clash.
The Gunners, who enter this contest as odds-on favourites with some bookmakers, followed their routine victory over Nottingham Forest with a 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao in their Champions League opener.
It was an impressive win against strong opposition in tough surroundings, and again showed their strength in depth without the likes of Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Martin Odegaard in the squad.
Manchester City, meanwhile, claimed bragging rights in the Manchester derby before cruising past 10-man Napoli in Europe on Thursday night.
Pep Guardiola’s men have recovered from successive defeats to Tottenham and Brighton with consecutive wins to nil, and it’s perhaps no coincidence that they’ve started to click with Gianluigi Donnarumma between the sticks.
But Arsenal at the Emirates will be another step up for Guardiola’s side, and very recent history isn’t on their side.
The Gunners have won two of their last four league meetings with Manchester City (D2), as many as their previous 22 beforehand (D5 L15). They’ve also won their last three Premier League home games by an aggregate score of 9-0.
That could be good news for the hosts, considering Guardiola’s men have lost five of their last seven league games following a midweek Champions League outing – including a 5-1 defeat at Arsenal last February.

The Norwegian superstar, 25, has made a scintillating start to the campaign, netting six goals in five appearances for Manchester City – not to mention his SIX goals during the international break for his country.
That’s 12 goals in his last seven games in all competitions, with 10 coming in his last five, and the underlying numbers back him up. Haaland currently has an xG of 5.74 in the Premier League – more than double that of any other player.
