It’s been quite the start to the season for Arne Slot and Liverpool, winning all six games since their Community Shield defeat.

That only tells half the story though.

Liverpool will be hoping this cup tie is a bit more smooth sailing when Championship side Southampton visit on Tuesday.

Saints have won just once all season and the weekend 3-1 thumping at Hull has just raised the pressure on Will Still, following a 1-1 derby draw with Portsmouth the week prior.

Their only win this season came in the last round of this competition when thumping Norwich away from home and this is a tall order for a side sitting 19th in the second tier.

Curtis Jones missed a couple of games with injury before coming off the bench for half an hour on Saturday.

This one looks a real toss-up between Flynn Downes and Jack Stephens to be carded.

In truth, there’s a solid chance they both will in this tie, particularly with Saints to have much less of the ball than they’d be used to.
