The former Old Trafford favourite’s relationship with supporters soured significantly prior to his exit.

Ruben Amorim then froze the academy graduate out following the Red Devils’ Europa League final defeat to Tottenham in May.

Garnacho made his first return to Old Trafford with Chelsea over the weekend, but did not get on as the Blues lost 2-1.

After the match, the Argentina international’s younger brother Roberto posted a picture of himself aboard a private jet with his footballer sibling.

Roberto subsequently shared a screenshot of a response from a female United fan, which read: “September 20th? Yeah hold that you f***ing freaks.”

He responded: “You weigh 150kg, go to the f***ing gym instead of wasting your time texting me.”

The initial message referenced the date of Chelsea’s defeat at United.

Roberto was accused of leaking team news during his brother’s spell at the Theatre of Dreams, an accusation he denied.

He did criticise Amorim after his brother was benched for the Europa League final, writing on Instagram: “Working as no one else, Helping every round, coming from 2 goals last 2 finals.

“Just to be on the pitch 19 mins and get thrown under the bus. [Wow] hajjahhahaha.”

Garnacho was also unhappy at being dropped, saying at the time: “Obviously it’s hard for everyone. Our season was s***. We didn’t beat anyone in the league. We lacked a lot of things. When you don’t score goals, you always need more.

“Until we reached the final, I played every round. And I played 20 minutes today – I don’t know. I’m going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens next.”

Garnacho was subsequently left out of the matchday squad for United’s final league game, before then clashing with a supporter during the Red Devils’ post-season tour.

The winger further enraged fans by posing in an Aston Villa shirt with Marcus Rashford‘s name on the back in an Instagram snap.

While he didn’t get on at Old Trafford on Sunday, Garnacho was booed and jeered by fans as he warmed up on the touchline.

He then posed for a snap with former team-mate Amad Diallo after the pair swapped shirts, with the Ivorian subsequently drawing ire from fans.
