Fofana needed medical attention on the pitch after being caught by the Danish international.

The game was paused while he received treatment but was okay to continue.

The moment is the latest in the Blues’ season of calamitous moments from the keepers.

Fans were stunned by the unfortunate moment as they reacted on social media.

One posted: “Fofana fit again and Jorgensen punches him in the face.”

A second commented: “Sell Jorgensen to the very first bidder.”

A third wrote: “Switched over to the Chelsea game and Lincoln just hit the post and then Jorgensen eliminated Fofana.”

A fourth said: “Jorgensen took out Fofana what are we doing here?”

Another added: “Jorgensen is somehow worse than Sanchez.”

Cheslea’s first-choice stopper Robert Sanchez, has been criticised for his performances so far this season.

He was sent off in the defeat to Manchester United for a poor challenge on Bryan Mbeumo.

Fans were left demanding that he was dropped by Enzo Maresca for the costly error.

Premier League legend Jamie Carragher insisted that the Blues will not challenge for the title with the Spaniard as their no1.

Jorgensen made the move to Stamford Bridge in July 2024 in a £20.7million switch from Villarreal.

He made 12 appearances in the club’s run to winning the Conference League last term.

However, Maresca only trusted him to make six Premier League appearances.

Meanwhile, Chelsea arrived for the third round match at Sincil Bank without striker Marc Guiu.

This was despite him being eligible for the squad due to a rule change.

He was on loan at Sunderland earlier this season before his recall following the injury to Liam Delap.
