AN explosion has rocked central Oslo on Tuesday after cops detonated a grenade and arrested a man.

Police have warned the public to stay away from the site, as there were likely to be more explosives present.
Oslo Police Chief Brian Skotnes has confirmed police have taken control of the scene and made an arrest.
According to Norway’s Aftenposten, a boy born in 2012 has been arrested.
“[The police] are now taking into account that there may be several people involved,” Chief Skotnes said.
Police have said the explosions were a “showdown between criminals”.
Police are hunting other potential suspects in relation to the explosions, however they have not disclosed how many people they are searching for.
The first reports of explosions came in at 9pm.
A police spokesperson told Norwegian media they carried out a controlled detonation of a grenade.
Witnesses of the explosion say they also saw drones flying over the area.
There have been no reports of injuries at the site.
The detonations were located in the immediate vicinity of a university campus and some 500 metres from the royal palace and the Israeli embassy.
In a rare step, authorities sent an emergency message to Oslo residents’ mobile phones, warning them of the blast.
The message read: “There has been an explosion in the area (called) Pilestredet”.
“Given that there is still an explosive device in the area, the police wish that people stay away from windows,” it continued.
“As of now, we are not evacuating the area.”
The area remains cordoned off by police.
A spokesperson said a large area would remain blocked off and would likely affect traffic, including the trams that pass through the area.
Residents of the area told Norwegian media outlet NRK that the explosions were so loud it “hurt their ears”.
“There was a big bang,” one resident said.
“We just saw someone grab a man in a hood who ran from the scene.”
Another witness said they could smell burning in the area near Bislett Stadium.
Police say the explosions were caused by a planted hand grenade, and other undetonated devices had since been found.
The grenade had reportedly been left on a tram line.
The Fire and Rescue Service were also notified and attended to assist the police.
Bislett – where the explosions occurred – is in central Oslo, as is a suburb popular with families.
There are many homes, shops and restaurants there.
The incident comes nearly a day after reports of drone sightings near both Oslo and Copenhagen’s airports.
