RORY MCILROY refused to play a shot at the Ryder Cup as the US crowd’s abuse crossed the line.
And fans were reportedly ejected from Bethpage Black amid the animosity.

McIlroy and Shane Lowry teamed up once again in the fourballs on Saturday afternoon.
Lowry sank two clutch putts to put Europe two-up against Justin Thomas and Cameron Young.
The Irishman blew a fuse on the third hole and shouted “f*** you” in response to vitriolic heckling.
But tempers flared again on the sixth green.
McIlroy was lining up a long birdie putt from around 34ft.
But the boos, jeering and various shouts from the raucous New York crowd were too much.
And even when he prepared to take the shot, the abuse continued.
So much so that McIlroy stepped away from the ball twice because the distraction was too much.
McIlroy appeared to explain to the American pair and the crowd that he would not play until things calmed down – a total of four minutes.
The Northern Irishman then went on to make a par.
But Lowry sunk a brilliant birdie putt with the pressure on to halve the hole.
And even Thomas tried to calm the home fans down, shaking his head at the end of the action.
TV commentators then said that a fan was taken away on a buggy to be removed from the course.
It is understood Lowry had ordered another spectator was kicked out earlier.

State police officers were then forced to line the fairways afterwards to deter rowdy fans.
In the foursomes earlier in the day, McIlroy snapped at the rowdy supporters late in his win with Tommy Fleetwood.
He told one to “shut the f*** up” after interrupting his swing.
The 39-year-old was on the 16th when the incident happened, as fireworks ignited in New York.
McIlroy then went on to float a sensational shot onto the green, where Fleetwood putted to finish the job off for Europe.
He was then asked about the hostility of the crowd going around the famous Bethpage course.
“You do have to focus on the task at hand,” he said afterwards.
“I think in the team format, foursomes and fourballs you can stick together with your partner which makes it easier.”
