THE M20 has ground to a sudden halt with all traffic stopped and queues stretching back for miles following a crash.

Traffic is being held on the M20 westbound between Junction 4 (Leybourne) and Junction 3 (M26).

An update from National Highways has confirmed that all lanes have now reopened.

It advises that drivers still allow extra time when travelling, while residual delays continue to clear.

It also thanked motorists for their patience while they worked to clear the road.

This comes after it reported that there is approximately two miles of congestion.

Drivers faced delays of up to 30 minutes as pictures showed traffic continuing to pile up.

In a statement posted on X, they said: “Traffic has been temporarily stopped on the M20 westbound between J4 (Leybourne) and J3 (M26) due to a collision.

“There is approx. 2 miles of congestion on approach, causing delays of 30 minutes above usual journey times.”
