LUCY Letby’s lawyer says he has new evidence that could clear her name.
This is giving the killer nurse “hope” after she became a “broken woman” behind bars, he said.

Her barrister Mark McDonald says he has new evidence pointing to her innocence.
He said he has 26 separate experts and 1,000 pages of fresh evidence to back up his claim, which he has passed on to the Criminal Cases Review Commission.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain, he said: “I was instructed a year ago this week.
“There is obviously a concern here among experts that something is seriously wrong.
“A year ago when I went to see her she had lost everything and she said no one believed her, she was a broken woman.
“Now seeing these experts saying no crime was committed she has hope.”
Writing in The Telegraph, he said Letby was an “exhausted woman, eyes red with tears” when he visited her in jail.
“Lucy had lost every battle, her cries of innocence had gone largely unheard, she had lost one of the longest trials in British history, and most recently had been denied leave to appeal. She was broken and without hope.”
He went on to say he has “no doubt” she will one day be free.
His comments come ahead of a new documentary on the killer nurse.
Since she was locked up for killing seven babies in a year-long reign of terror, there has been intense debate arguing that she is innocent.
Experts have weighed in on both sides of the argument – but the families of the murdered babies have previously spoken out blasting the “lies and misinformation” swirling.
They “just want some peace to grieve” knowing Letby is behind bars.
It comes after The Sun reported that Letby is under 24-hour guard after lags taunted her over her case’s coverage.
Staff check every 15 minutes to ensure Britain’s worst child murderer has not been attacked or harmed herself.
It is part of an Assessment, Care in Custody and Teamwork (ACCT) order placed on Letby, 35, at HMP Bronzefield in Surrey.
It comes amid claims Letby has become “deluded” about winning her freedom after a campaign questioning her guilt.
TV documentaries on BBC and ITV have looked into the case.
Her barrister has also referred her convictions to the Criminal Cases Review Committee, which is now re-examining the evidence and could send the case back to the Court of Appeal.
A source said: “She’s been mercilessly mocked about all the documentaries about her.
“She’s in the news so much she’s become a target.
“It has mostly been comments so far, but bosses are worried it’ll escalate, hence the extra checks.
“The other reason is that she appears to have deluded herself she’ll be out soon.
“It’s as if all the publicity’s gone to her head.
“The ACCT was opened so they can keep an eye on her and help her cope with being infamous.
“They also have to manage her expectations as Letby could be in for a very rude awakening.”
Letby, who targeted infants at the Countess of Chester Hospital, was given a jail sentence after being convicted of seven murders and seven attempts in 2023.
She got a 15th life term after being convicted of trying to kill a premature baby after a retrial.
Letby is reported to have struck up a bizarre friendship with Beinash Batool, who murdered her 10-year-old stepdaughter Sara Sharif.
The ex-neo natal nurse is said to be chaperoned by prison guards wherever she goes, and special areas have to be cleared whenever she wants to visit – due to the high risk of her being attacked by fellow lags.
The Sun reported how the evil pair play card game Uno for hours in their cushy jail unit after being given “enhanced” privileges at HMP Bronzefield, Surrey.
They also have “a lot of freedom” and can buy foods that others can’t – often in the kitchen making cheese toasties together.
Letby allegedly moans she’s the “fattest I’ve ever been” due to her diet of junk food, including chocolate.
Letby and Batool, 31, have also reportedly been awarded “positive behaviour comments” by prison officers as part of the IEP scheme.
This means they get extra perks like visiting the prison staff restaurant, called Vita Nova, which has two qualified chefs, and inmates can be trained barista and knife skills, it’s claimed.
And when Letby attends the likes of the salon or Vita Nova, it is closed to others to protect her, but she chooses to take Batool as her plus one guest, according to reports.
One prisoner told The Mirror, there is “so much hatred for her” because she’s “treated like she’s Queen Bee”.

Child B, allegation of attempted murder. The Crown said Letby attempted to murder the baby girl, the twin sister of Child A, by injecting air into her bloodstream. COUNT 2 GUILTY.
Child C, allegation of murder. Prosecutors said Letby forced air down a feeding tube and into the stomach of the baby boy. COUNT 3 GUILTY.
Child D, allegation of murder. The Crown said air was injected intravenously into the baby girl. COUNT 4 GUILTY.
Child E, allegation of murder. The Crown said Letby murdered the twin baby boy with an injection of air into the bloodstream and also deliberately caused bleeding to the infant. COUNT 5 GUILTY.
Child F, allegation of attempted murder. Letby was said by prosecutors to have poisoned the twin brother of Child E with insulin. COUNT 6 GUILTY.
