RODRIGO BENTANCUR is close to agreeing a new contract at Tottenham.
Spurs have made renewing the Uruguayan’s terms a top priority given his current deal expires at the end of the season.

And now SunSport understands the midfielder, 28, is ready to put to pen to paper on a fresh contract.
It is a huge boost for boss Thomas Frank, who rates Bentancur highly and is keen to keep the former Juventus man for the long-term.
Bentancur has featured in all of Spurs’ nine games so far this season, barring the 3-0 win at West Ham earlier this month, and is likely to play against Bodø/Glimt in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Speaking in pre-season, Frank said of Bentancur: “I was pretty sure he would be a key player [before I started working with him], so that’s not been a surprise. That’s a player, of course I think is important for the future.”
Frank was then asked about Bentancur’s contract situation before the West Ham victory.
The Dane said: “I think first and foremost, I am very happy with Rodri. He has been a very good player for us, a top professional in every aspect.
“I am happy with him, he is happy with being here. I know that for a fact. Let us see what is going to happen in the future.”
Bentancur signing a new deal would follow in the footsteps of close pal Cristian Romero, who inked fresh terms in the summer after Frank made him captain.

The Uruguay star started May’s Europa League final triumph against Manchester United in midfield alongside Yves Bissouma, who is also out of contract next summer.
But unlike Bentancur, Spurs have been keen to let the Mali man go but saw a possible summer sale scuppered by a knee injury.
