Footage captured outside the club at 2am shows a masked thug charging towards the door of the nightclub.

Clad in a white t-shirt, black balaclava and black trousers the yob lifts a huge blade as he runs at the bouncer.

The brave doorman stands his ground however and a number of people step in to push the thug away from the door.

Others, also dressed in black masks, rush to the aid of the armed yob and a scuffle breaks out at the door of the club.

Revellers can be heard screaming in horror as the heart-stopping moment unfolds before their eyes.

Several people begin to advance on the door in an apparent attempt to help one side or the other.

The man armed with a machete appears to gain entry to the club with two of his cronies backing him up.

More bouncers appear on the scene and the brawl escalates as onlookers run away in horror.

A group of around five individuals, one of them brandishing the large blade, can be seen standing at the entrance to the club.

They shout at the bouncers and appear to taunt them as the brawl begins to calm down.

Thankfully no one was seriously injured during the brutal confrontation.

Video footage of the machete wielding thug was shared and circulated on social media.

On screen text over the video reads: “Pov: Leicester is officially Gotham city.”

The caption references the fictional, crime ridden city from the Batman comic and film series.

So far there have been no reported arrests in connection with the incident but cops say they have launched an investigation.

Police said those involved fled before they could be cuffed by responding officers.

A Leicestershire Police spokesperson told The Sun: “Shortly before 2am yesterday (Monday 29 September) a report was received that a fight was taking place outside premises in Yeoman Street, Leicester.

“It was reported that the fight occurred following an organised, licensed event at the premises and that some people involved were carrying knives.

“Officers were deployed but those involved had left the area prior to their arrival. No injuries were reported.

“Officers are liaising with the venue to identify those involved and an investigation into the incident is continuing.”
