When is Taylor Swift’s new album out?

The award-winning, record-breaking artist will be releasing her latest album this week.

The album drops on October 3 and it is almost guaranteed to go to number one globally.

Keen-eyed fans will know that the release date is just two days before Travis Kelce’s birthday on October 5, perhaps a special nod to the man who recently proposed to the singer in a romantic display.

But this album has been a long-time coming with fans eagerly awaiting new music – with hints being dropped since earlier this year.

Fans spotted some hints that new music was coming back in May, after Taylor shared a letter on her official site celebrating that she now owns the masters to her entire discography.

She described the milestone as “the best thing that has ever been ours.” Notably, the letter contained the phrase “I was thiiiiiiiiiiiis close” with 12 “i”s.

For some, this means nothing, but for Taylor Easter Egg collectors, they knew this was more than an excitable typist, prompting fans to see a link to her 12th studio album.

And 12 seems to be a running theme, as the 35-year-old also revealed the 12 songs on The Life of a Showgirl on Instagram.

There will be 12 tracks on the album in honour of the 12th album

The tracks include:

“The Fate of Ophelia”

“Elizabeth Taylor”

“Opalite”

“Father Figure”

“Eldest Daughter”

“Ruin the Friendship”

“Actually Romantic”

“Wi$h Li$t”

“Wood”

“CANCELLED!”

“Honey”

Why is Taylor Swift’s album called The Life of a Showgirl?

Taylor is nothing short of a modern-day poet who thinks about every minute detail of her and has been drip-feeding hints about this album for longer than fans can think.

The concept of a showgirl has been alluded to on multiple occasions, performing Dita Von Teese’s famous martini glass dance in Bejewelled on the Eras Tour.

What’s more, after the release of The Tortured Poets Department, Taylor also added a showgirl-inspired performance to the Eras Tour, set to her song “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.”

Swift announced the album on her beau’s podcast New Heights, during which she explained the color theme.

She said: “It feels like kind of energetically how my life has felt. And this album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant.”

This citrus-inspired colorscape has been in front of our eyes throughout the worldwide Eras Tour, with select dates featuring orange confetti and outfits, a shade not tied to any of her existing eras.

As a result, this has made fans theorise about what the meaning behind the title could be.

Taylor described the album as being about “the life beyond the show” and “everything that was going on behind the curtain”.

Therefore, with the hints to orange throughout the tour, and the obvious fact that she was probably writing it during the Eras Tour, many fans feel the album is going to be about her experiences as a performer.

She has described in the past how she found the tour both physically exhausting and mentally exhilarating, and so perhaps the album will be able to capture this “infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place” she was in through lyrics.
