Three days later, he questioned why Hamas was not receiving support from other Arab nations, adding: “Long live the brave men of Gaza.”

On October 11 2023, he called for the “resounding fall of a great traitor” in Israel.

It emerged after the family issued a statement condemning Jihad Al-Shamie’s attack at Heaton Park on Thursday.

Cops believe he was motivated by Israel’s war in Gaza, which has seen thousands of Palestinians killed.

The senior Mr Al-Shamie arrived in the UK from Syria in the 1990s, settling in Manchester with his wife and two sons Jihad and Jawad.

In 1995, their third son Kenan was born in the UK.

Mr Al-Shamie qualified as a doctor in Syria and became a trauma surgeon in the UK.

It is understood he is now working overseas as a medic.
