That took place in Sunderland at a time when Man Utd’s record goalscorer was suspended.

But Rooney‘s then team-mates came back to Manchester with the most horrific tale.

The pundit revealed there was a problem with the toilets upstairs, which led to sewage leaking through the roof and on to the players as well as their possessions.

Rooney said on The Wayne Rooney Show: “There was one at Sunderland, I was actually suspended.

“So I weren’t there and above the dressing rooms was the toilet and it’s come through and went all over the players and their clothes.

“Our players, the United players. I weren’t there, I was suspended. So I was laughing about it.

“But yeah, I think there was a load of whatever goes into the toilets all over the players and their clothes.

“And we’ve had in dressing rooms where players have been to the toilet before a game and the toilets have not flushed or whatever. And it’s a tight dressing room.”
