They immediately rushed to pick up the wheel and stop it going into the road.
However, they had done so without checking over their shoulder to see if another car might be coming.
They managed to get to the wheel and pick it up – just narrowly avoiding Yuki Tsunoda as the Red Bull star zoomed by.
The mechanic was also luckily far enough away to not be hit by the car.
This weekend the FIA allowed cars to go at a higher speed in the pit lane for this year’s Grand Prix – rising the speed limit from 60kmph to 80kmph to allow for more strategic use of pit stops.
The race itself was won by Mercedes‘ George Russell, grabbing his first win at the track ahead of Max Verstappen and Lando Norris.

The Aussie saw his title lead cut down to just 22 points ahead of Norris, while Verstappen moved to within 63 points of the lead as he searches for a fifth drivers’ title.
