The pair boast three World Championships between them.

And a tense match saw them go level at one set each, leaving a winner-takes-all final showdown.

Both men proceeded to each claim two legs, sending the game to the wire.

But it was Anderson who claimed victory as he checked out on a D8.

It sparked big celebrations from the Scot, who tossed his flights down to excited fans in the stands.

However, he did not shake hands with Van Barneveld following the end of the match.

At first, it was Barney who kept his back turned after Anderson threw his winning dart.

The Dutchman then appeared to approach his rival.

But Anderson was engaged with fans, leaving Van Barneveld to thank the officials before departing the stage.

However, the victor wasn’t too bothered about not shaking hands.

Anderson insisted he was not “upset” by the interaction.

And he instead declared his delight at winning a tough match.

Anderson said: “No, I don’t get upset. Maybe once or twice in nine months, but not tonight. I was fine.

“When I won? Yeah, I was over the moon.”.

He then joked to reporters: “Buy yourself a fishing rod for Christmas.”
