Moody is already into his third season as a professional at just 19-years-old.

And so far it has proved to be a very successful campaign, with Moody beating top names including Ding Junhui, Kyren Wilson, Barry Hawkins, Ryan Day and Ali Carter, twice.

The wonderkid has also reached the quarter-final of a ranking event for the first time, at the Wuhan Open and the British Open.

O’Sullivan, 49, admits he has kept an eye on the rising star and been impressed with what he has displayed.

The Rocket told the Metro: “I’m excited for Stan Moody. I think he’s an amazing talent.

“I watched him play and I thought, ‘yeah, this kid can play.’

“I always thought he could play but he’s shown now that the breakthrough’s not far away.”

Moody even became the first man to break the Ding curse after three seasons and 22 matches.

He beat Ding in round one of the Wuhan Open before thrashing Zhou Yuelong.

And in doing so he became first player to win a match after defeating Ding in 23 attempts.

Moody has set a big ambition for the season but is keeping his feet on the floor amid comparisons to Luke Littler.

He told the World Snooker Tour: “I’ve got a long way to go to be a Luke Littler of snooker, but I’m on my way.

“I want to be top 32 by the end of the season, go deeper in tournaments. I’m doing alright.”
