Young woman ‘bundled into tow truck by two men on busy street in terrifying abduction’ – as cops hunt for victim

COPS have launched a manhunt after a young woman was bundled into a tow truck by two men on a busy street in a terrifying abduction.

The men forced the woman into a white Ford Transit tow truck in Canary Wharf, east London, police said.

The Met Police raced to Millharbour Road at the junction of Lighterman’s Road at around 11:25pm on Tuesday, September 30.

They say they are “concerned for the welfare” for the woman who they have so far been unable to identify but believe is aged between 28 and 32.

A 42-year old man was arrested from east London on Wednesday, October 1 on suspicion of kidnap in relation to the incident.

He has been bailed as the police’s enquiries continue.

Detectives have now launched an urgent appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the shocking incident.

An investigation is underway from the Met’s Central East Criminal Investigations Unit.

Detective Inspector Grant Stevens, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are keen to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident and are concerned for the welfare of the young woman involved, who we believe is aged between 28 and 32 and been unable to identify.

“Were you in or near Millharbour Road, E17 around the time of the incident and saw anything suspicious, or do you have any CCTV or mobile phone footage that will assist us with our enquiries?

“If so, please come forward by calling 101 and referencing 01/8032774/25.”
