A CONTROLLING thug starved his bed-ridden girlfriend and banned her from going to the toilet for five days in a “mercy-killing” bid.

Jack Preston, 29, left disabled Katya Aleksova in agony for up to 120 hours after he hid the toilet paper and ordered her to ”hold it in.”

Katya suffered from medical conditions that left her bed-bound, Chester Crown Court heard.

Instead of caring for his sick partner, twisted Preston instead verbally abused her at their home in Crewe, Cheshire.

He threw bottles of liquid food at Katya when she complained he had let her starve.

The brute also told her he considered her “dead” and expressed an urge to carry out a “mercy kill plus suicide”.

Prosecutor Sarah Badrawy said Preston forced Katya to “hold in her faeces for over 120 hours” – causing her agonising pain.

When Katya was eventually allowed to go to the toilet, her heart rate increased and left her paralysed for an hour so she was unable to clean herself.

Preston has now been jailed for 20 months after pleading guilty to controlling or coercive behaviour plus other offences of criminal damage theft and assaulting a PC.

Ms Badrawy said: “On May 14, 2025 police responded to a 999 call from Miss Katya Aleksova, where the defendant interrupted the call by grabbing the phone from her.

“Police attended at a house where the defendant and Miss Aleksova were residing at the time. Miss Aleksova was crying and visibly upset whilst lying in bed and explained she has some medical conditions and was not able to move from the bed.

“She said she lost all her abilities in January 2025 and said of the defendant ‘His brain snaps very quickly’.”

Katya also told officers Preston had threatened to physically assault and even kill her.

He also bombarded her with more than 400 messages over a couple of hours one day and called her “self-centred” due to her illness.

Domestic abuse – how to get help

DOMESTIC abuse can affect anyone – including men – and does not always involve physical violence.

Here are some signs that you could be in an abusive relationship:

Emotional abuse – Including being belittled, blamed for the abuse – gaslighting – being isolated from family and friends, having no control over your finances, what you where and who you speak to
Threats and intimidation – Some partners might threaten to kill or hurt you, destroy your belongings, stalk or harass you
Physical abuse – This can range from slapping or hitting to being shoved over, choked or bitten.
Sexual abuse – Being touched in a way you do not want to be touched, hurt during sex, pressured into sex or forced to have sex when you do not consent.

If any of the above apply to you or a friend, you can call these numbers:

The Freephone National Domestic Abuse Helpline, run by Refuge on 0808 2000 247 for free at any time, day or night
Men who are being abused can call Respect Men’s Advice Line on 0808 8010 327 or ManKind on 0182 3334 244
Those who identify as LGBT+ can ring Galop on 0800 999 5428
If you are in immediate danger or fear for your life, always ring 999

Remember, you are not alone.

1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will experience domestic abuse over the course of their lifetime.

Every 30 seconds the police receive a call for help relating to domestic abuse.

Sentencing Preston, Judge Simon Berkson told him: “For an extended period of time you committed an unhappy list of offences, in relation to a person who was significantly disabled at the time.

”She required love and attention rather than the disgraceful and cruel way in which you treated her over that period. The different ways you controlled and coerced Miss Aleksovas was clearly upsetting and injurious to her.

“Your behaviour was despicable and disgraceful and was intended to humiliate and degrade the victim in some very unusual and upsetting ways.”
