The amateur fighter, who owned a furniture-cleaning company, called his brother to come to his aid.
But before help could arrive, tragedy struck.
As Flavio tried to move his stricken motorbike to safety, a bus ploughed into the vehicle, sending him tumbling and trapping him underneath.
The bus then caught fire, sparking a horrifying blaze that quickly engulfed the vehicle.
Horrified onlookers rushed to help as the bus screeched to a halt.
Witnesses said Flavio was trying to move into the emergency lane when the collision happened.
Panicked passengers scrambled to flee as the flames took hold.
Flavio’s brother arrived moments later – and desperately joined the bus driver and bystanders in a frantic bid to pull him out from under the vehicle.
But the intense heat and raging flames forced them back, leaving them helpless as the fire grew.
Firefighters raced to the scene, but by then the inferno had spread through the entire bus.
Miraculously, all seven passengers on board managed to escape unharmed before the bus was completely swallowed by flames.
Tragically, Flavio was unable to be rescued and died at the scene.
The young man was a native of Rio Grande do Sul and ran a furniture-cleaning business based in Ingleses, in the north of the island.
Outside of work, he was a dedicated amateur boxer who had competed in major regional tournaments – including the Cinturão de Ouro, one of southern Brazil’s biggest boxing events.

His devastated coach, known as Paboom, shared a heartfelt tribute online.
He wrote: “Filhote, I wish from the bottom of my heart that good spirits welcome you, my loyal one.”
His local boxing club announced it would close on Thursday and Friday as a mark of respect for the talented fighter.
The bus involved in the crash – a yellow executive model with just four months of service – is now set to be thoroughly examined as part of the ongoing police investigation.
Authorities are working to piece together exactly how the tragedy unfolded, as tributes continue to pour in for the young boxer whose life was cut short in such a horrific way.
