A HUMAN skull has been found in a carrier bag at a UK seaside town harbour.
The skull was unearthed by fishermen at the Man and Boy statue at Brixham Harbour in Torbay, Devon.
Cops rushed to Kings Quay after a carrier bag containing what appeared to be bone was found at 3.40pm on October 9.
The force later confirmed a human skull was found inside.
Officers said it will be examined by specialists to confirm how long it has been there.
Enquiries have suggested that the skull was located by fishermen out at sea and brought to shore, although an investigation is currently ongoing.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “We were called at 3.40pm on Thursday, October 9, to Kings Quay in Brixham after a carrier bag containing what appeared to be bone, was found at the base of the Man and Boy statue.
“The bag has been seized, and following examination, the bone is confirmed to be a human skull.
“It will now be examined by specialists to confirm its age.
“Our investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances, but enquiries suggest that the skull was located by fishermen out at sea and had been brought to shore.
“Anyone with information which may assist our investigation is asked to contact police on 101 quoting 50250262056.”
