Mum, 35, ‘stabbed to death in front of her two young children’ as cops arrest man, 45, on suspicion of murder

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a mum was stabbed to death in front of her two young kids this morning.

The youngsters found the victim, 35, with a stab wound to the chest following the “truly horrific attack” in Salford, Greater Manchester.

Police were called to the scene on Dukesgate Grove, in Little Hulton, Worsley, at around 2.40am on Friday.

The woman was taken to hospital but sadly later died.

A 45-year-old man fled the scene but has since been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Initial inquires suggest the victim was known to the suspect and police are treating the incident as a targeted attack.

Officers have sealed off the road as forensics teams probe the circumstances.

Images from the scene show two blue and white forensics tents with overall-clad teams combing the site.

Detective Chief Inspector Gina Brennand of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said cops are still trying to piece together what happened.

She added: “This was a truly horrific attack on a mother, witnessed by her two young children and we really need the public to come forward and give information to us that may be able to assist our enquiries to find answers for them.

“A man, aged 45, fled the scene but has since been arrested by officers on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.

“Our inquiries at present suggest that the victim was known to the suspect and we believe that it was targeted attack.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Greater Manchester Police immediately on 101 quoting log number 236 10/11/2023.

Cops also want people who may have doorbell, CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.
