NICK POPE could be sidelined for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.

The Newcastle goalkeeper was subbed off in agony during the Toon’s 1-0 win over Manchester United on Saturday.

Nick Pope could miss the rest of the season

Reports from The Telegraph suggest that it could take Pope four to five months to recover.

This means he could not play again for Newcastle this season.

It also leaves him in danger of not making England’s squad for Euro 2024 in the summer.

After Pope sustained the injury, Eddie Howe admitted that the 31-year-old could need an operation.

The manager also revealed that it looked like a dislocated shoulder, which is a problem the keeper has suffered from before.

Howe told TNT Sports: “It looked really innocuous, but that is usually the way and they are normally the more serious ones.

“You could see he was in distress.”

Pope is set to be replaced by Martin Dubvraka, with Loris Karius now second choice.
