Liverpool stabbing: City centre shops locked down after three stabbed in horror attack as cops hunt suspects

A MAN is fighting for life and two others are in hospital after a mass stabbing in Liverpool city centre.

Businesses and homes were thrown into lockdown after this morning’s incident – thought to have involved a large group of men.

Police swooped on Victoria Street shortly after 5.30am and found one man, in his 20s, with stab wounds at the junction of Church Street and Whitechapel.

He was given first aid before being rushed to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Two other men, both in their 20s, took themselves to hospital.

One had been knifed in the head and the second in the back.

No arrests have been made as Merseyside Police launch a manhunt.

A large cordon remains in place around the city centre.

Superintendent Helen Bennett said: “It appears that a large disturbance took place on Victoria Street in which three people have been injured.

“Incidents such as are unacceptable and we will do everything within our powers to find the people responsible and bring them to justice.”
