His mum Keziah Macharia, 41, appeared at the Old Bailey today charged with murder.

She wept as the court was told how police were alerted to concerns for Kobi’s welfare by his dad Ben Dooly, who had split with Macharia around a year before the horror.

Officers forced their way in at 10.59pm and found the youngster lying in his cot with a number of cuts, it was said.

Kobi was rushed to hospital where he tragically passed away at 12.16am on December 21.

A cause of death has not yet been confirmed but it is believed he died from sharp force injuries – including one to the neck and another to the chest.

Macharia spoke only to confirm her name and date of birth during today’s hearing.

She was remanded into custody to next appear for a plea hearing on March 21.

Kobi’s dad Ben previously paid tribute to his son, saying: “With heavy hearts we bid farewell to Kobi, you will be so dearly missed.

“The joy and laughter you brought to the world has been taken far too soon. We will be thinking of you day and night for eternity until we meet you again.

“The family would like to acknowledge and appreciate all messages of support. Please respect our family privacy at this very difficult time.”
