A driver of a black Mercedes got into an argument in Midtown Manhattan and was trying to drive off when he hit seven pedestrians and a cop, local ABC affiliate WABC reported.

Police had just arrived to intervene when the 44-year-old suspect started driving the Mercedes the wrong direction.

He traveled several blocks before jumping a sidewalk and crashing into the pedestrians, according to WABC.

Bernans’ family said that the actress was walking with a friend when the car slammed into her.

She was knocked unconscious and ended up pinned under a food cart.

In total, nine people were injured in the crash, including three police officers.

Police caught the driver shortly after the crash, however, his name has not been released.

Bernans suffered multiple broken bones and fractures and had to undergo surgery but is expected to recover, according to her family.

Her mother, Patricia Lee, shared graphic photos of her daughter’s injuries, which also included several broken and chipped teeth.

“She’s still in so much pain and can’t answer calls at this time, but appreciate the messages. This was a traumatic incident,” Lee wrote.

“Amidst the chaos of the New Year’s incident, she’s holding onto an immense sense of gratitude for life itself.

“This setback hasn’t deterred her belief that something remarkable is still being crafted by God. Despite the injuries sustained in the collision caused by a hit-and-run in NYC, she’s filled with hope and faith in the unfolding of a beautiful new chapter.

“Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she navigates this path toward recovery and new beginnings.”

Bernans is a new mom who gave birth to a son in May.

Family members said the child was safe and with relatives at a hotel at the time of the crash.

Bernans has also spoken out about the horrific ordeal.

Before the crash, she shared photos and video of her celebrating New Year’s Eve with friends.

She later shared a video on her Instagram Story from her hospital bed.

“I unfortunately can’t respond to everybody that’s sending me messages but I wanna say thank you,” she said.

“I’m in so much pain and I can’t really walk right now…but I know God is good and it was just not my time.”

Bernans has won two Screen Actors Guild awards for her stunt work in Avengers: Endgame and Black Panther.

She played a Dora Milaje warrior in both films and was seen in 2023′s The Color Purple.
