SIR Keir Starmer has insisted he does have proper policies – but that critics have just not been “paying attention”.

After his waffling New Year’s speech contained no new announcements, he pointed to “five big mission launches, big speeches, backing documents” as evidence of his plan for No10.
Sir Keir told LBC listeners: “You can’t really say, ‘We don’t know what you stand for, we haven’t set anything out’.
“Unless you’ve just really not paid very much attention to what’s been said over the last year or so.”
Polling by YouGov shows 47 per cent of voters are “unclear” what the Labour Party stands for, with only 26 per cent believing it has a “clear sense of purpose”.
Sir Keir has refused to spell out detailed tax commitments beside limited changes on VAT for private schools and abolishing non-dom status.
On Thursday he said he would not cut taxes without first achieving growth.
Pressed yesterday on how he would grow the economy, Sir Keir said he would “work with the private sector to invest in the future”.
Sir Keir also rowed back on plans to spend £28billion annually on green investment, yesterday declaring it a “confidence ambition” by the second half of a first term.
Tory MP Jacob Young said: “He changes what he stands for every time he opens his mouth.”
