AN IT chief who tutored postmasters in the Horizon system said: “It was flawed from the start.”
Naomi Walker claimed bosses did nothing when she complained it was faulty.
Naomi Walker, an IT training manager who taught hundreds of postmasters how to use the Post Office Horizon system, has claimed it was flawed from the start
The training manager, 50, who taught hundreds the system from 1997 to 2000, said: “Dozens of us knew there were problems.
“We did express that we thought there were glitches and I feel that we were ignored.
“I could only report it to the person above me. Nobody knows how far up the chain it went.”
Naomi was contracted by Fujitsu-owned International Computers Limited, which developed the £1billion Horizon technology.
It was installed in nearly 19,000 Post Office branches.
Naomi, of Northumberland, went on to work on a hotline trying to help desperate branch managers balance their books.
Horizon was supposed to smooth the process for them but it created discrepancies.
Accounts it produced were used to accuse more than 700 postmasters of false accounting and theft.
Their convictions are to be quashed.
Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron, meanwhile, said yesterday he could not recall “being aware” of the scale of the scandal when PM from 2010 to 2016.
