Man dies after being ‘attacked’ by teen at Scots bus station as suspect arrested

A MAN has died after he was allegedly attacked by a teenager at a Scots bus station.

Emergency crews raced to Elgin Bus Station on St Giles Road at around 10:40pm last night after the alarm was raised.

A 58-year-old man was rushed to Dr Gray’s Hospital in the town but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Images from the scene show a number of police vehicles at the bus station as officers erected a tarpaulin covering one of the bays.

Cops confirmed a 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the alleged incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.40pm on Friday, 2 February, 2024, police were called to the St Giles Road area of Elgin following a report of the assault of a 58-year-old man.

“Emergency services attended, and the man was taken to Dr Grays Hospital in Elgin where he later died.

“A 15-year-old male youth has been arrested in connection with the alleged incident and enquiries are continuing.”

Stagecoach Bluebird warned customers to seek alternative travel arrangements.

It said: “Due to a police incident at Elgin Bus Station, there is major disruption to our service.

“We have tried to run some services but would advise passengers to seek alternative transport.”
